This safari is one of the most interesting for our kin birding clients, most of the locations are ecological hot spots and relatively within the wealthy Albertine rift valley which is not only Uganda but Africa’s richest zone for most endemic and globally threatened species of birds and other animals like the mountain gorillas, tree climbing lions.

The safari will start from Kampala to Mabamba swamp, Botanical gardens to Lake Mburo national park having over 350 bird species, to Queen Elizabeth national park having over 600 bird species, to Kibale national park for birding and chimp trekking and a visit to Mabele Ga Nyina Mwiru then back to Kampala

Itinerary

Day 1; :
Arrival

On your arrival at Entebbe international airport; our guide will be waiting to give you a warm welcome to the pearl of Africa. He will then transfer you to your hotel for relaxation, dinner and an overnight

This swamp is located on the shores of lake Victoria which is an extensive papyrus swamp a home to several pairs of shoes bill a predator bird, you will use canoes to reach the swamp where you will observe birds like the pink-backed duck, malachite kingfisher, long toed plover, blue headed coucal, Rossturaco, red headed love bird, swift, African green pigeon among others. You will return have lunch then go to botanical gardens

This is the only botanical garden in Uganda it was established in 1901 and strategically located on the shores of Africa’s greatest lake, the gardens are attractively laid-out mix of indigenous forest, cultivation and horticulture and it is a highly attractive destination to bird watchers. While in the gardens look out for yellow-billed stock, eastern grey platen-eater, yellow white-eye, purple-banded sunbird, Egyptian goose, tambourine dove, and grey headed-sparrow among others.

You will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight

After breakfast you will start your journey to Lake Mburo national park where you will make a stopover at the equator for photos and the water experiment. Lake Mburo is the closest national park to Kampala city, its located in a series of swamp-fringed lakes which provide a great habitat for bird life. The park is well developed acacia woodland harboring great species of birds; it has a great number of savannah species of birds and the best place in Uganda to view the typical savannah bird species.

You will reach the park in the afternoon, check in to your hotel and prepare for the launch cruise where you will see different bird species like the white-winged warbler, crested coqui, red-winged francolins, blue- spotted wood dove, Brown parrot, Common button quail, Rufous-chested swallow laser and great swamp warblers among others

You will return for dinner and an overnight

After your delicious breakfast you have a morning game drive in the park expect to see different animals like the impalas, zebras, topi, eland, bush buck, buffalo, warthog among others and other different bird species.

After the game drive you will start your journey to queen Elizabeth national park, the park is located in the south western part of Uganda. The park is a home  to over 600 bird species, it has numerous water birds, woodland and forest dwellers in the Maramagambo forest some of the key spices in park include the martial eagle, blacked-rumped, button quail, African skimmers, chapins, flycatchers, African broadbill, verreaux’s eagle owl, black bee-eater among others.

You will reach in the late evening check in to your hotel have dinner and overnight.

After your breakfast you will  have a morning game drive you will see different animals like the African elephants, African buffalo, Uganda kob, topi, giant forest hog, spotted hyena among others be ready to take as many pictures and videos as you can while your with the animals. After the game drive you will have lunch then have a launch cruise to the kazzingachannel expect to see marine animals like the crocodiles, hippos and different bird species like the pelicans, green backed heron, African spoon bill, Senegal plover, and larks babblers among others. After the launch cruise u will return for dinner and an overnight.

After your delicious breakfast you will checkout from your hotel and have a morning game drive to ishasha plains for the tree climbing lions as your exiting the park expect to see lions resting on fig trees and acacia since they got tired from hunting take pictures and videos as many as you can.

You will have lunch en route then proceed to Kibale national park where you will reach in the late afternoon, on your arrival you will check in to your hotel  have dinner, relax and have an overnight.

After breakfast you will go for birding at 7:00am, the park is a home to over 150 bird species expect to see the white-spotted fluff tail, white-tailed ant thrust, black-and-white shrike-flycatcher, superb sunbird, yellow-billed barbet, little green bul, black-caped Apalis, Abyssinian ground thrush among others. After birding you will return for lunch. You will prepare for chimpanzee trekking you will meet the park ranger who will brief you about the rules and regulations of the chimp trekking, after the briefing you will start trekking, once the chimpanzee is found your allowed to spend an hour with them, learn about their behaviors, watch the old ones feeding the young ones, watch them play, you will take photos and videos of then when the camera flash is turned off. You will return for dinner relax and have an overnight.

You will wake up for breakfast and prepare for a nature walk through the forest of Kibale, this is where you will feel the presences of natural air and learn about different flora and fauna species. During the nature walk you will get to learn about more different bird species and also different primates which will be spotted. Expect to see birds like the African pitta, black capped Apalis, collared Apalis, Abyssinian ground thrust, dusky crimson wing among others. From the hiking you will have lunch and relax

Day 9: :

After your breakfast you will check out and head to fort portal to visit Amabele Ga Nyina Mwiru, these are rocks located in the cave; they are natural features that are a result of the formation of stalagmites and stalactites. It is a belief that these are the breasts of a young girl called Nyina Mwiru which was cut off by her father the king for refusing to marry a spouse he had chosen for her. You will pass by the amazing waterfalls which will welcome you and learn about the features.

After the visit to the Mabele Ga Nyina Mwiru you will have lunch in fort portal and continue to Kampala.
