This  6 days trip offers a blend of adventurous activities like game viewing in both Narus and Kidepo valley, karimojong cultural tour in lorukul village and lastly Rhino tracking in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

Kidepo valley national park, Uganda’s most isolated and a true African wilderness tucked in Uganda’s remote north eastern corner bordering south Sudan and Kenya. Kidepo boasts sighting of abundant wildlife in Narus and Kidepo valley with over 80 species of mammals out of which many cant be found anywhere else in Uganda like cheetah, caracal, bat eared fox, aardwolf, side striped hyena, side striped jackal, African painted dogs, BeisaOryx,lesser and greater kudu among others. Big mammals like buffalos and elephants frequently visit Narus valley swamps in huge congregations with zebras, eland, jackson harte beest, and Roth child giraffe all present together attracting predators like lions, leopard and hyenas among others.

Kidepo boasts over 475 bird species ,a number second in Uganda only to Queen Elizabeth National Park’s 604 species. The distinctive birdlist includes over 100 ‘dry country’ residents of northern Uganda and Kenya including a number that are endemic to Kidepo region e.g. rose ringed parakeets, Clapperton’s francolin and Karamoja apalis. Other highlights include the ostrich, secretary bird, koribustard,red-throated bee-eaters, the Abyssinian roller and the Abyssininan ground hornbill. Kidepo is also notable for 56 raptor species including the rare lappet-faced vulture, lesser kestrel and Denham’s bustard.

Itinerary

Arrive in Entebbe International airport following the flight from your country of origin. Land at Entebbe International airport the main gate way to the pearl of Africa where you will find a company representative of Avelisa tours and travel dedicated to offer you a courteous welcome to the pearl of Africa. After a short briefing about the safari ,you will connect to the hotel in Entebbe for relaxation,dinner and overnight stay.

After early morning breakfast,link up with driver/guide for long scenic journey drive to kidepo valley national park,true  Africa’s greatest wilderness located in Uganda’s most remote north eastern in the furthest extremity of the sparsely populated karimojong region.Exit  Kampala through Bwaise and settle for lunch in Gulu town at Bomah Hotel after which we shall proceed and arrive in the park in the evening for lodge check in dinner and overnight.

 

Highlight for the day:-scenic drive along the Gulu road with sighting of northern Uganda beautiful landscape.

After an early morning breakfast ,link up with the driver/guide for a 3-4 hours game drive in Narus valley,a thrilling savannah grass land rolling plains rewarded with scenic views of mountain, hills and constant water pasture supply throughout the year boosting sighting of  abundant wildlife like elephants,buffaloes,zebras,giraffes,many antelope species like eland,jacksonhartebeest,oribis,lesserkudu,bohorreedbuck,kobs,impalas,waterbuck,beisaOryx,many cat species like lions ,leopards, cheetahs ,caracal,bat eared fox,side stripped and backed jackal, spotted hyenas and many more. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation .Have dinner and overnight at Apoka rest camp.

Kidepo valley hot spring game drive and lorukul village

After an early morning breakfast ,link up with driver/ ranger guide nad embark on a game drive to the semi-arid northern section of the park kidepo valley to explore and sight wildlife like ostriches ,lesser kudu, kidepo sand river,kantaruk and kanangorok hot springs at the border line of Uganda and South Sudan. Retreat  from the activity and return to the lodge on reverse journey for relaxation and lunch.

Later on in the afternoon link up with driver and transfer to lorukul cultural village which is strategically located just outside lokomoit park gate,while at the karimojong village we shall learn about their traditions like manyatta experience, music dance and drama, food preparations,life style,traditional craft and souvenirs items. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early morning breakfast, link up with the driver and transfer to Ziwa Rhino  Sanctuary in Nakasongola on a reverse journey via Gulu town for lunch at Bomah Hotel through karuma bridge boosting baboon sighting. Arrive  at the sanctuary late in the evening for lodge check in, relaxation ,dinner and overnight.
