This is a 10days/9nights cultural safari that takes you through Uganda’s cultures of Banyankole people from Ankole kingdom famously known for their long horned cattle, the Batooro culture with the youngest king in the world in fort portal the tourism city of Uganda, lake Mburo national park for wildlife encounters the nearest park to the capital city of Uganda that enables walking safaris since the park doesn’t have lions and elephants making it easy for the unforgettable experience of tracking wildlife on foot and Queen Elizabeth national park for the game encounter and t boat ride on the famous 40km Kazinga channel with the highest concentration of hippos in the world.  

The tour starts from Kampala to Lake Mburo national park for wildlife encounter and a launch cruise on lake Mburo, to Mbarara and Nshenyi cultural village for an insight into the fascinating traditional life style of the Banyankole people.

To queen Elizabeth national park for big game encounter and a launch cruise on the famous 40km Kazinga channel with the highest concentration of hippos. Queen Elizabeth national park is a home of 96 mammals’ species like lions, buffaloes, hyenas, leopards, elephants, elands, topis, with over 600 bird species. Proceed to fort portal Uganda’s tourism city for the Batooro culture with the youngest king in the world, visit Amabele ga Nyina Mwiru caves (breast like features) and undertake a hike to the dramatic fort portal crater field.

Visit Nakayima tree on your way back to Kampala a tree that is believed to possess a spirit called Nakayima standing over 40m high with strong batress roots which serve as rooms in the shrine. The tree is believed to be over 400 years. Enjoy interesting stories told by the guides and the powers of the tree.

Day 1

Pick up and transfer to hotel

Arrive in Entebbe following the flight from your country of origin. Land at Entebbe international airport the main gate way to the pearl of Africa where you will find a company representative of Avelisa tours and travel dedicated to offer you a courteous welcome to the pearl of Africa. After a short briefing of the safari, you will connect to the hotel in Entebbe for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Pickup and transfer to Lake Mburo

Start the day with a delicious breakfast and embark on a drive to Lake Mburo national park located in the southwestern part of Uganda.
You will make a stop-over at Mpambire in Mpigi to meet the Baganda royal drum makers who craft royal drums using methods that have been passed on from generation to generation.
You will then continue the journey and make another stop-over at the equator at kayabwe masaka road the line that divides the world into two parts,the southern and the northern part of the world for photos and the water experiment an also souvenirs that are sold in the art shops around.
You will then continue your journey to the park at the arrival,you will check-in to your hotels and have lunch,rest abit then get ready for the nature walk.After the nature walk you will return at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Morning game drive and launch cruise

You will enjoy your morning with breakfast with the hissing calls from different bird species. Then you will prepare for the morning game drive where you will be able to take photos and videos, expect to see many animals like zebras,impalas,antelopes,hippos,among others and different birds.
You will then come back for lunch and take a rest where you will be preparing for the afternoon boat cruise. Expect to see more aquatic animals like crocodiles,buffaloes,among others and birds like king fishers,the rare shoe bill,oribi,among others.
You will then return for dinner at your hotel and then enjoy the rest of the night.

Day 4

Morning and evening cultural adventure at Igongo

After an early morning breakfast,transfer to Igongo cultural center. Make a stopover at the 1520AD Eclipse monument on Biharwe hill overlooking the Igongo cultural centre. You can opt to climb the hill than driving which is a magical experience to encounter.
The 3 pillar monument reminds local people of the time when the Omukama (king) of Bunyoro had confiscated the entire cows of the Ankole kingdom leaving people in complete starvation. The tide of events turned one day as he was from raiding that of Rwanda and reached Biharwe, the eclipse took place and the sky fell ominously dark during daylight hours. This prompted the terrified Omukama to flee back to Bunyoro leaving behind several stolen cattle at the site and when the eclipse was over, the Banyankole found cows all over, they thought the cows where sent from heaven by God to rescue them from starvation. Settle for traditional lunch then connect to Igongo cultural museum to tour the Erijukiro museum which features collections of all tribes of southwestern Uganda, then later proceed with the drive to Ntungamo for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Morning and evening cultural experience in Ntungamo

After having breakfast, undertake an uphill hike to visit farmers the harvest honey from the caves, you can also opt to engage in the harvest. Take part in the milking process , watch milk being processed and preserved. Learn about traditional homesteads crop caltivation and food processing while your interlucting with the locals. Retreat for relaxation and settle for lunch.
Experience and enjoy the traditional music and dance of the people of southwestern Uganda. The traditional dance is called “Ekitaguriro performed by both men and women. Men step from one leg to another imitating the back and forth movement of cows they make while moving, wearing shackle like beads to their ensemble whose basic role is to draw attention to the foot movements and compliment sounds of the dance. Women spread their hands across and above their heads in representation of the long horned cattle and majestically sway from side to side in unison wearing traditional dance attires known as “bitambi” or “lessu (wrappers)” which is tied tightily around their waist and another lighter cloth around the shoulders complimented by several African themed jewellery.

Day 6

Evening game drive in Ishasha

After an early morning breakfast,transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park for lunch and embark on an evening game drive in Ishasha where you will sight wildlife tree climbing lions, elephants, giraffes and many more. proceed to hotel for relaxation,dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Morning game drive in kasenyi and transfer to fort portal

The day will start at 8;00am with breakfast and embark on a morning game drive at kasenyi plains. This is where most of the wildlife in the park can be spotted and the pains have a vast savannah. The morning game drive is the most rewarding where you get to see animals when they are mostly active. Be ready to see animals like the Uganda kob,elephants,buffaloes,rhinos,lions among others and more different bird species since the park has over 600 bird species. The game drive will take 3-4hours.Return to lodge for lunch and then embark on a journey to Fort Portal tourism city,along the way you will sight savannah plantations,slopes of mountain Rwenzori among others. You will arrive late in the evening,check-in,have dinner and overnight.

Day 8

Early morning visit to Amabere ganyina mwiru caves and hiking crater lakes

After having breakfast, embark on a journey to visit Amabele ga Nyina Mwiru caves and enjoy the cultural stories attached to this cave. It is nestled between several trees and beautiful waterfalls. Retreat from the activity for lunch and relaxation.
Undertake a hike to the crater lakes field; the hike is quite adventurous with scenic views of the area. The lakes were formed as a result of vulcanicity, with violent eruption causing the top of a volcano to be blown off, leaving a crater. They are so many and vary in size. Retreat from the activity for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 9

Your Plan

After a morning breakfast undertake a visit to the Royal Tooro palace, you will get to know about the Toro tribe, stories, culture, cultural equipments among others.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.Then later in the evening,you will experience the tooro cultural dances where you will have fun.

Day 10

Visit Nakayima tree and transfere back to kampala

After an early morning breakfast,you will have a guide to take you through Fort Portal tourism city for brief tour around the city, then embark on a journey to Mubende, on arrival you will have lunch then proceed to visit Nakayima tree one of the oldest and strongest trees in Uganda believed to possess sipiritual powers that hill people, provide wealth and fertility. Enjoy the stories behind it. After proceed with the journey back to kampala.
